Renowned
for its warm climate, safe bathing, international marina,
sophisticated shops and restaurants, Torquay, today, is a
flourishing and cosmopolitan resort.
Although
there is something quintessentially English about the name,
Torquay has a distinctly Continental air, hence the title
the 'capital of the English Riviera'. The town surrounds the
harbour in a mini Monte Carlo style and the marina forms part
of the view for the elegant villas and comfortable apartments
rising up from behind the Edwardian pavilion.
